Underground mapping in Târgu Mureș – 5 km of networks detected!

As part of an urban infrastructure project, the Stereographic team carried out a 5-kilometer wide georadar scan (GPR) to identify underground networks.
📍 The targeted area: the location of the future electric cable for the new Burns Hospital in Târgu Mureș.

By using IDS Stream DP technology and integrating data into the AiMaps GIS platform, we were able to:
✅ we detect the routes of existing pipes and cables,
✅ we avoid the risks of damage during drilling,
✅ We provide a complete map of the underground infrastructure.

GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) technology enables fast, non-invasive and accurate scanning, essential for modern and safe urban projects.

Underground Mapping with GPR

Today was a great day for a GPR survey. After just a few minutes, we managed to spot our target—an abandoned well buried under about 0.5 m of soil. No noise in the data, no other underground features getting in the way: the ground conditions were simply perfect.
